Many still believe that the loss of 230 lives was the result of a terrorist attack.  Those theories will probably never go away, but here are the “official” results of multiple investigations.

On July 17, 1996, the Trans World Airline flight left Kennedy International Airport and was off the coast of Long Island. Twelve minutes into the flight, the Boeing 747, headed for Paris, exploded, leaving all people aboard the flight dead.  Among the 212 passengers and 18 crew members were 21 members of a high school French Club on their way to France.

It was a fairly clear evening, and various witnesses reported seeing the explosion against the night sky. The flaming debris and the burning jet fuel on the Atlantic waters lit up the darkness, along with reports of seeing a missile hitting the jetliner shortly before the explosion.

The investigation gathered almost all the pieces of the 170-ton jet from the ocean floor and reconstructed the airliner in a hanger.  Family members of the victims,  crash investigators, and crash investigator trainees were the only ones allowed to visit the reconstructed plane.  The reconstruction and investigation lasted approximately four years!

The conclusion was that an explosion took place in the center wing fuel tank.

However, the fact that . . .

“Air travel safety, in general, has steadily improved since the beginning of the widespread use of jet aircraft in 1958. Of the accidents that have occurred, spontaneous explosions in mid-air have always been responsible for a very small percentage of the total” and only with small planes.– Commercial Aviation Historian Shea Oakley ¹

. . .  AND . . . . the fact that a 747 had never experienced such an explosion before, only increased the speculation that an errant missile or terrorist action was the actual cause.

What’s the truth? Was it due to an explosion in the center fuel tank? Was it due to an errant military missile? Was it the result of a terrorist attack?

The truth may never be known. TWA Flight 800 is just one of many other lingering “mysteries” that lack a sure and certain conclusion. There are many others . . . .

• Did George Mallory die before he reached the summit of Mount Everest?
• Who killed Jimmy Hoffa, and where is his body?
• Was there more than one shooter involved in the assassination of JFK?
• What happened to the Ark of the Covenant?
• What really happened in Butler, Pa.? 
  

Nevertheless, be assured that God knows the truth about any and all situations of life and one day, the truth will be revealed.

If you have ever been slandered, maligned, falsely accused of wrongdoing, lied about, or someone has misrepresented the facts of a situation, be assured that one day, the truth will be made known.

While you may want to be vindicated at the moment, that may never take place in your lifetime. Nevertheless, one day, the Lord will set the record straight in the eyes of all men. The crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places shall be made plain. ( Isaiah 4:4)

Remember, they slandered God’s own Son, but one day, the record will be set straight, and the facts will be known to all — sinful men tried and crucified the Lord of Glory.

Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

Him . . . ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. (Acts 2:21-24)

One day, all the facts will come out, and Jesus will be shown to be the Saviour of the world!

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 14:6-11)

 Don’t wait for that day! Trust Jesus TODAY. Trust that He was who He said He was, and did what He said He did on Calvary — died for all your sins!

“And it shall come to pass,
that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord
shall be saved.”
