Please take note that these various lists of transitional phrases help in sermon construction as it relates to “Topoi.”

They have the potential of generating new and different thoughts as to where you might bring the audience in thinking about that verse.

For Example: Using — “Actually, none of the above”

Most of the time we have options to resolve problems and pressures. Young person, as you go into that college classroom to take that test, you had options as to how to best succeed and pass it.

You could study the material the night before.
You could study the material real hard and early.
You could have organized a study team to go over the material with you.
You could bring in some cheat notes.
You could look over at someone else’s paper.
You might be able to ask those who took the test earlier what was on it.
You could show up sick to get in some more study time.
You can pray and ask for a miracle.
You can just take your medicine and refuse to cheat any do none of the above

When you are under pressure, you can try to pull yourself from out under the pressure, or you can stay under it and mature. James says, stay under it — don’t move from out under, mature. Let “patience” — “staying under it” have its perfecting work.
